Meet J. Oni Dakhari, PsyD

Dr. J. Oni Dakhari is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey and Delaware. Her expertise is within the subfield of pediatric psychology. As a pediatric psychologist, Dr. Dakhari specializes in the assessment and treatment of individuals with behavioral and social-emotional challenges, learning difficulties and developmental delays, and chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Dakhari received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her doctoral degree from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. She completed her predoctoral psychology internship at the A. I. duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC) as well as two additional years of postdoctoral specialization at AIDHC. Dr. Dakhari is committed to helping infants and children, adolescents and young adults, as well as parents and other family members. Her professional experience has included service at various hospitals, behavioral health clinics, and specialty centers such as the respected Emory Autism Center, known as a national model for the diagnosis and innovative treatment of Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

Dr. Dakhari has participated in a NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health)-funded Asthma research project and has worked with children with a variety of health related challenges. She also served as a behavioral health consultant for Delaware’s statewide early intervention service program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities, served as an adjunct psychology professor, and has co-authored an article published in the Head Start Bulletin: Mental Health issue on identifying Post Traumatic Stress in young children.  Dr. Dakhari has been noted on the KidsHealth Panel of Expert Reviewers Nemours website KidsHealth. Dr. Dakhari also currently enjoys serving in the role of Vice President on the Executive Board of the South Jersey Psychological Association.  She utilizes an active and structured approach to help her clients and greatly enjoys helping and teaching the children, parents, and professionals with whom she works.
