WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DOES A PSYCHOLOGIST RECEIVE?
A Psychologist is a professional regulated by the state(s) in which he or she provides services. A Psychologist must have completed the mandatory educational, training, and examination requirements in order to be licensed. A Psychologist holds an advanced graduate degree, which includes approximately 6 – 7 years of graduate school and additional training. A Psychologist is typically regulated by the State Board of Psychological Examiners. In most states, Psychologists must participate in continuing education training throughout their career in order to maintain current knowledge in the field.
